Arun Ghosh Quintet
The welcome return of a great CMJ favourite as Arun brought a new quintet to Hidden Rooms. Conceived in Calcutta, bred in Bolton, matured in Manchester and now living in London, his musical vocabulary and vision reflect his rich geographical heritage. Using the spirit and language of jazz, with the sounds and styles of hip-hop, Indian classical and folk, rock, pop and avant-garde, Arun's music is full of lyrical melodies and searching harmonies, down to earth directness and psychedelic ambient introspection.
A truly charismatic musician Arun was voted Musician of the year in the 2014 APPJAG awards. Also Musician in Residence 2014 in Wuhan, China PRS-British Council.
As always we await to be astonished.
NOTE: Idris Rahman (saxes) replaces John Ellis (piano).
Artists: Arun Ghosh clarinet, Chris Williams alto sax, Idris Rahman saxes, Liran Donin bass, Dave Walsh drums
